About this tour
South Hvar & Šćedro
Hvar's southern coast faces open sea and is almost entirely inaccessible by road. This tour follows that wild shoreline westward, where the cliffs fall straight into deep blue water and the only traffic is the occasional fishing boat. The pace is unhurried, the scenery extraordinary.
The first stop is the Lukovac islets — a scatter of small rocky outcrops in the channel between Hvar and Šćedro that do not appear on standard navigational charts. Few visitors ever find them. The water here is exceptionally clear and undisturbed, ideal for snorkelling and a long morning swim in complete solitude.
From Lukovac we cross to Šćedro, an uninhabited island entirely covered in dense pine forest with a deep natural bay that has sheltered sailors for centuries. We anchor in the bay — there is a small seasonal konoba on the shore where we can arrange a table for lunch. The afternoon return passes through the Pakleni archipelago for one final swim before Hvar harbour.
